Experience

GSM / Guild Student Magazine (February 2011 – June 2013) — Writer and Section Editor

GSM is the monthly student magazine of Edith Cowan University. For the two semesters of 2012, I was promoted to be the sub-editor of Arts Review Section of the magazine.

Responsibilities:

    • Write feature articles and reviews (including book, art, music, apps and game reviews).
    • Proofread the submitted articles and reviews by other writers.
    • Commission art reviews to potential contributors.
    • Organise events that have the potential of being included in the Review Section.
    • Communicate with reviewers and other editors.
    • Distribute magazine copies in Edith Cowan University.
    • Assist in the marketing and the advertising of the magazine.

Regime Books (February – June 2013) — Assistant Editor

Regime Books is an independent Australian publishing house specialising in literary publications. This company also publishes Regime Magazine: a collection of selected prose and poetry by Australian writers.

Responsibilities:

    • Edit, proofread and revise manuscripts.
    • Maintain communication with authors and other editors during the editing process.
    • Maintain payment invoices.

Ant Hill Anthology (August – October 2012) — Writer and Editor

Ant Hill is an anthology of prose and poetry by the 2012 Community Writing students at Edith Cowan University.

Responsibilities:

    • Edit, proofread and revise manuscripts.
    • Assist in the creation of layout and cover designs.
    • Assist in the printing, the laminating and the final preparation of anthology copies.

Winterbourne Publishing (October 2011 – October 2012) — Assistant Editor

Winterbourne Publishing is an independent Australian publishing house specialising in digital publication of speculative fiction.

Responsibilities:

    • Substantive-edit, copyedit and proofread the submitted manuscripts.
    • Select potential manuscripts from the Slush Pile.
    • Assist in the marketing of the published books.
    • Update the company’s website and blog.
    • Format manuscripts for e-publication.

Life@PIBT eNewsletter (October 2010 – February 2011) — Journalist

Life@PIBT is the old digital newsletter of Perth Institute of Business and Technology, targeted for students.

Responsibilities:

    • Write concise and informative articles that are easy to read in digital environment.
    • Edit, proofread and revise articles.
    • Arrange independent research using search engines and other technological channels to ensure the factuality of the articles.
